ACM Monitoring is the sole provider of SCRAM in San Diego County. This Alcohol
Monitoring System is Court , Agency, and client friendly. Courts and Agencies
such as Probation and Social Services benefit from SCRAM in that clients using
alcohol can no longer time nor manipulate results of alcohol tests. Clients no
longer have to take time out from their day to go in for testing nor be reported
as having a "dirty" test that was a missed test. In many cases SCRAM may enable
clients to substitute the device for a monitor for child visitation.
SCRAM - Continuous Alcohol Monitoring
SCRAM, or the Secure Continuous Remote
Alcohol Monitor,. is a non-invasive alcohol detection
system that automatically tests for
alcohol at least every hour, 24 hours a day,
regardless of the offender’s location. SCRAM
measures a subject’s sweat—called Transdermal
Analysis.in order to measure for alcohol
consumption. SCRAM automates the alcohol
testing and reporting process, which means
offenders are not required to participate in the
testing, and agencies are not required to supervise
each test. The ability to test continuously allows
monitoring agencies to classify alcohol-involved
offenders and to rapidly assess compliance with
sentencing requirements and treatment guidelines.
The SCRAM Bracelet
An 8-ounce ankle bracelet, designed much like
current ankle bracelet monitoring technology,
houses the transdermal testing technology. The
bracelet tests for alcohol and takes additional tests
to determine whether any kind of tampering has
taken place. Tests are random and passive.the
subject does not know when testing will occur.
The SCRAM Bracelet’s patented anti-tamper
features ensure that test results are accurate and
from the correct subject.
The SCRAM Modem
The SCRAM Modem, placed in the subject’s home
and connected via conventional phone line, sends a
signal at a predetermined time each day to the
SCRAM Bracelet. Via 900 mhz radio frequency,
all data stored in the SCRAM Bracelet is
transmitted to the SCRAM Modem. In turn, the
SCRAM Modem sends the data, via a private,
secure telephone network, to SCRAMNET. The
SCRAM Modem will also download any system
updates from SCRAMNET to the SCRAM Bracelet.
SCRAMNET
SCRAMNET is a web-based application that is
managed and hosted by AMS. SCRAMNET is
accessed via the Internet using standard web
browsers, which allow agencies to customize testing
and reporting schedules and to access and monitor
subject test results at any time, from any location.
The Platform
Users can access SCRAMNET just like any other
website via Internet Explorer (minimum version 4.0)
or Netscape (minimum version 4.0).
